How much of the new, broken code was written by a large language model? If #Microsoft now uses an #LLM to write some of its code, does this explain the run of bad patches we've seen recently? And, if Microsoft doesn't use an LLM to write code, why is it so keen to push #Copilot on to the rest of us?
@netzpolitik_feed #DigitaleSouveränität droht so zum zahnlosen Tiger zu werden. Im öffentlichen Sektor hängen noch viel zu viele Entscheidungstragenden an #microsoft. Eure Skepsis teile ich.
I’m skipping Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Forza Horizon 5, and everything else that Microsoft Games releases for PS5 this year until further notice.
Free Palestine! Shame on Microsoft. Stop renting out cloud computing to Israel, the so-called “country” that’s actively committing a genocide!

Microsoft thinks malware written in node is hot news. Did I misinterpret something, cause I thought we'd been dealing with that for a while.
I saw today that my CoCalc (https://cocalc.com/) license was about to renew. I've been meaning to move to a more #SelfHosting or #P2P paradigm, so this was good timing for me to cancel. I left this message when doing so:
"I want to support Sage, and I like using CoCalc, but I don't want to put money towards a service that supports Microsoft, Amazon, or OpenAI in any way. I didn't care so much about this before, and I even log in to CoCalc with a GitHub account, but I'm tired of having my work scraped for profit by people who donate to fascists who are destroying my nation. I would consider returning if all ties to these corporations were cut and cloud computing services came from responsible companies, perhaps in the EU."
I'm pretty sure I already have backups of everything I want from GitHub, so I can be done with them too. I should have quit when Microsoft first arrived. My plan is to switch to Radicle (https://radicle.xyz/) rather than another centralized service. I'll be sure to post about how that goes.
Vollzug bei Microsoft 365: ActiveX wird jetzt abgedreht
ActiveX folgt Flash. Die riskanten Plug-ins funktionieren in Microsoft-365-Apps bald standardmäßig nicht mehr.
I’ve been getting scam emails pretending to be Microsoft for 20+ years now, e.g.:
* Bill Gate [sic] giving away 5M
* The Grand Windows Tombola
* Use Bing 3 times to win 1M
Just got that last one now. But it’s run by #Microsoft themselves!
(for real it took me a while to assert its authenticity, even with all the links working, it’s so silly!)
Nouvel Open bar #Microsoft : le ministère de l'Éducation nationale va-t-il enfin commencer sa cure de désintox ?
So why is Microsoft insisting on pushing out a feature it is very clear users just do not want? What is the point of it? It just does not make any sense. Recall ..

Dear Big Tech, Stop Shoving AI Into Operating Systems
「 These updates could just be self-contained apps, either on web services or on local machines. It would still be bloatware, but at the very least it wouldn’t be littering the entire OS. That’s without mentioning the resources these AI assistants hog, which would otherwise go towards making your device performant 」

@archlinux now has an official image for WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) and it is officially (re)distributed by Microsoft (and I'm guilty for it)!
I wrote a sum up blog post:
The reasons to provide such an image, submitting the official proposal, tackling the implementation, how @fedora coincidentally helped () and how Microsoft showed interest in officially adding this image to their official WSL Linux distributions manifest.
@jon Because from their standpoint it makes perfect sense: Gather all data they can get away with about their users and sell it for nice profits ON TOP OF the license fees they are already paying, which their investors love.
And in one fell swoop finally creating the access all the acronym services have been having wet dreams about for years.
And oh so many people just sleepwalk into it...
@jon Once again:
"THIS is the time to move to Linux! You have so many options, some are even very similar to Windows's GUI. And, I think you won't miss the tracking, or will you?"

#Microsoft is bringing back its controversial “Recall” feature in Windows 11, even after backlash over privacy risks. It’s now optional, but unclear what’s really changed. With so much sensitive data in play, who would actually turn this on? #Privacy #Windows11 #CyberSecurity
