@vxo im remembering now a time when i was in elementary school. we were learning about carbon dating in a science class, as part of a wider set of units on geology. my teacher asks us, "can any of you think of examples we could try dating, perhaps locally?" so i raise my hand, she calls on me, i keep my hand raised and form it into an index finger pointing upwards, and say "we could guess the age of these ceiling tiles based on how many (and how dark) the water stains are on them"
