I guess I will start off with an . I'm a librarian at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. I work with digital preservation, digitization, repository platforms, web archiving, and just about everything digital library related. Our main work is the Portal to Texas History, the UNT Digital Library and the Gateway to Oklahoma History. I love with and cameras. I love to travel with my wife Kristy and our two brittanys Ripley and Kenai

Looks like I will be teaching my Web Archiving course for the UNT College of Information again next semester.

For those interested in the curriculum you can take a look here github.com/vphill/web-archivin

I’m always open to ideas or suggestions.

Time to do some mapping from spreadsheet to our local flavor of descriptive metadata.

If anyone is interested, this is the tool we use for this kind of work.

It is very "local flavor" but might be useful for others as an idea.

That grant report you thought you were late on submitting that turns out to be due a year from now.

Ahhh.. I can procrastinate for another year.

We're looking for partners to pilot the Internet Archive's platform for web archive collection datasets, called ARCH: webservices.archive.org/pages/

Today I'm working on instructions for exploring these data as networks, text corpora, and image galleries, and having way too much fun

I don't think I've shared this improvement for our metadata record history page.

You can now see what fields changed and a hint on how (+ = added, - = removed, ^ = 'adjusted') they changed.

I would love to see the "back of house" interfaces others are creating for managing digital collections and metadata.

Release v0.6.0 of QA catalogue a metadata quality assessment tool for library catalogue records. The big thing: supports of PICA bibliographic metadata schema (a MARC alternative used in Germany, The Netherlands, and France).

The developments was sponsored by Verbundzentrale (VZG) des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbundes (GBV). Many-many thanks for @nichtich for the cooperation!

People don't believe me when I say that one of the biggest challenges folks have in digitization is just scanning all the pages and putting them in the right order.

We had to pick the last of the peppers because of our first freeze this week. Time for some salsa.

While we are doing introductions, this is Ripley (in pink) and Kenai (in teal). Both are American Brittanys. Ripley is 10 years old while Kenai is 6 months old. They both want to say hello to the Mastodon world.

It doesn't seem like anyone has mentioned recently so that seems like a good start.

If anyone wants to give this tool for harvesting metadata a spin feel free. - github.com/vphill/pyoaiharvest

Recently updated (very late in the game) to python3.
