Well shit, it finally happened. I hope all the Brexiters enjoy their fantasy victory while it lasts. I'm more worried about who gets to be the scapegoat when the reality of being a very small fish in a very big pond starts to bite, because I bet it won't be the buffoon or the gammon-faced one.
Thanks @parsonsj for sharing this https://hacklibraryschool.com/2020/01/29/i-dont-love-my-job/
esp appreciate this quote from Miya Tokumitsu:
By keeping us focused on ourselves and our individual happiness, [Do What You Love] distracts us from the working conditions of others while validating our own choices and relieving us from obligations to all who labor, whether or not they love it. It is the secret handshake of the privileged and a worldview that disguises its elitism as noble self-betterment. 1/2

If one doesn't know what whiteness is and how it effects us all on a daily basis, it's because they don't want to know.
Folks are asking about the basics of racism and hate not because they want knowledge, but to frustrate the conversation.
It is very easy to learn about the history of whiteness and its effects.

If it seems weird to you that this bugs me, consider that roughly the same effect, temperature-wise, could be achieved both quicker and with about ⅓ the energy use by swilling some hot water around the mug from the boiler to warm it, popping the teabag in and then filling it direct from the boiler.
Just watched a colleague: 1. Draw of 800ml hot water from the water boiler into the kettle (instantly cooling it from the 98°C it comes out of the boiler to about 94); 2. Bring it back to the boil in the kettle; 3. Pour out 300ml into their non-warmed tea mug; 4. Leave the remaining 500ml in the kettle to go cold. 😖
