I love how modern macOS still supports classic Mac OS metadata, so I can look at an app from 1993 in the ⌘I box and see that it was authored with MacroMind Director.

The great thing about FFV1 being officially recommended as a preservation format is that FFmpeg’s libraries already power much of the digitization hardware and software infrastructure. Adding support is genuinely practical, and I don’t think I can say that about older recommendations.

I honestly thought the AmigaOS 3.x line was over! Hyperion’s been developing the 4.x line for over a decade. This is a big surprise, but really neat.

Someone’s discovered a CD version of Cinemaware’s Defender of the Crown! This is so rare it was thought not to have been released. It’s a hybrid floppy/CD game, and would have been one of the earliest CD games ever released.
