Bad idea:
You know how some programmable keyboards have a thing where you can press a secret key combination and they'll type some config menu into a text document?
Do the same, but for a mouse.
You just open MS Paint and select the pen tool, then press all the buttons at once.
It'll draw you its config
@foone mouse acceleration settings on the host might make that tricky. But most fancy mice have HID key support anyway so they could probably also just type out their config.
@clairely_player_one yeah but where's the fun in that?
@foone That’s a thing? I’ve never heard of that. Cool!
I like your idea. Especially if it does a fancy job.
Alternate proposal: it makes a *perfect* circle. You tell people you can draw a perfect circle, press the magic combination, and mime it with the mouse while the firmware draws it and blows their minds.
@foone and of course you change the config by drawing or erasing checkmarks in the checkboxes that it drew
@foone I imagine a mouse that you can plug into a 2D printer to print a page of config info.
@trevorflowers now that's a fun idea
@foone
"You know how some programmable keyboards have a thing where you can press a secret key combination and ..."
I did not know about this, and now I feel like I need to know everything about it.
@foone well, you have a better ideas department than Logitech at any rate
@foone how would it know where the canvas is?
@foone or... tweaked to jump around to play pong. https://github.com/dupontgu/pov_pong_mouse
But yeah, the self drawing definitely has to be done.
@foone h...how is this a bad idea? This is fucking genius!
@foone bonus points if it does it in calligraphy and moves like someone writing
